Market Facilitation Program

Nov 18, 2019

Market Facilitation Program
The Market Facilitation Program (MFP) is a program created in May of 2019 by the USDA to assist producers impacted by foreign retaliatory tariffs on commodities. President Trump authorized up to $14.5 Billion in direct payments for crop year 2019.

MFP provides payments on the majority of crops grown in our area, including alfalfa, corn, cover crops, oats, rye, sorghum, soybeans, and wheat. For a complete list of crops, visit the link located at the end of this article. Non-Specialty crop rates are dependent on the county in which the crops are grown and the planted acres of each crop in crop year 2018. Only crops planted by August 1st, 2019 will be eligible for payment.

In order to be eligible, producers must meet a list of requirements and complete an application. Application deadline for 2019 is December 6, 2019. Applications and requirements are available at the link located below. Land owners and tenants must each fill out the appropriate documents.
