Growing with Purpose
"This merger brings tremendous value to our patrons in the short and long term. The perceived issues in a merger like this are exactly the elements that make it ideal. The geographical range will create opportunities in grain marking, asset utilization, and more."
CONSERVATION AND CARBON
Since 2021, American Plains Co-op has returned over $1 Million in carbon credit sales to our customers. Partnering with Truterra, our team has helped growers maximize their return on the sale of historical carbon credits. These credits were earned through a positive change in management, either by reducing tillage or the addition of cover crops. At the latest Truterra Partners in Excellence conference, American Plains Co-op won the Innovative Retailer of the Year award. This award was based on the results of the 2022 Truterra carbon program, the innovation research plots held at Great Bend each year, and for providing the latest in precision technologies to our producers. American Plains Co-op is also partnering with Pheasants Forever and the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks to implement a long-term conservation plot just South of Great Bend.
Area producer Jed Fleske of Fleske Farms was also recognized as Truterra's 2023 Farmer Advocacy Award winner for his dedication to implementing conservation across his operation and working with local groups and agencies to showcase and promote these practices to fellow farmers.
